Nicki Elworthy

Nicki Elworthy, a resident of Dartford, works as part of a busy office for national UK charity RNID, promoting hearing health and raising awareness of deaf and hard of hearing people. She also has a background in print journalism and has worked on publications such as The Daily Express, The Independent and The Surrey Advertiser.
She has always enjoyed channeling her creative energies into writing and is fascinated by the power words can have over the reader. She finds it relaxes her and she gains a strong sense of satisfaction when she has written a short story or prose which she is excited by. She loves delving into different characters, situations and issues, developing them and putting them into someone else's shoes.
Her main passions are historical fiction or chilling ghost stories! Although she enjoys reading and wrting these genres, she has a very varied bookcase and is willing to try her hand at any style! She especially appreciates writing that is beautiful and intelligent with imagery a-plenty, plus lots of engaging and varied dialogue. She also loves writing that is humorous.
Nicki has had many by-lined articles published in national and regional newspapers and magazines. These include reviews, news reports and features. She started attending the Creative Writing class in October 2009 in order to try her hand at fiction. Currently she is working on a story for My Weekly.
She has long harboured the ambition of writing a novel, capturing onto paper the many ideas that have floated around her head. In the shorter term, she hopes to sell short stories to women's weekly magazines and enter into creative writing competitions.
